To receive notification that changes have been committed to the source database, both SQDR Plus and the SQDR subscription must be configured to enable the notification feature. Note that the issues related to firewalls are apply to the scenario where SQDR Plus (tier 2) and SQDR (tier 3) are located on different computers.
On the SQDR Plus host, check the following:
Verify the values specified for the udpPort and minimumNotificationDelay parameters of the sqagent.properties configuration file; you can view the agent configuration using SQDR Control Center (SQDR Manager). Make a note of the port number. Refer to the SQDR Plus documentation for details about the sqagent.properties parameters. If these values are not present in the agent configuration, the default values are port 2728 and a delay of 5000 ms.
If the SQDR Plus computer is protected by a security firewall, make sure the firewall is configured to allow outbound UDP communications from the port specified for udpPort in the sqagent.properties file.
From the computer that is managing the subscription that you want to receive change data notifications, check the following:
The subscription is enabled to receive notifications. Make a note of the IP address or hostname that is configured for the Notification Address. See the Source Properties: Advanced tab topic for details.
The properties for the incremental group that contains the subscription allows notifications to be received. The Receive Change Data Notifications option on the Group Properties Advanced tab must be enabled.
If the computer that is to receive the notifications is protected by a security firewall, make sure the firewall is configured to allow inbound UDP communications from the port specified for udpPort in the sqagent.properties file on the SQDR Plus computer.
If the UDP notifications must pass through a Virtual Private Network (VPN) server it also may impose restrictions with inbound and outbound rules that take precedence over the Windows Firewall configuration. In this case, review the Routing and Remote Access defined for the VPN interface.
